Day 177

177/365

Kumquats

At a college retreat, I heard Billy Sprague sing, "Life is curious, kumquat may." I may have sung that line more than any other. Long story short, I had to try kumquats. FYI...they are like a miniature tart oranges, unfortunately with seeds. Just in case you are worried about them being too healthy, they are quite delicious with sugar on them. Otherwise, too tart for even me. But definitely worth a try.

Day 143

143/365

We have been told that Gemma is the Gerber baby. Ironically the girl who told us this should know...her father was one of the finalists for the Gerber baby back in his day. This case of mistaken identity must be no coincidence since John was also called the Gerber baby when he was little.

There is now a contest in search of the new Gerber baby. I am guessing the next one won't be a look-alike in our diverse world. But for now, do you see the resemblance?

Day 121

121/365

At 6 months and 2 days, Gemma started eating rice cereal, her first "real" food. She loved it!

Day 117

117/365

Sign compliments of Cane's on Nicholasville Rd. Someone won a free photo shoot from us last year and tipped us with a discount card that included a buy-one-get-one deal at Cane's. Normally we would never pay that much for fast food chicken strips, but with the card, we loved it! John, Gemma, and I would go often while Will was at Awana on Wednesday nights, sort of a mini-date.

This photo was taken on our last mini-date before the card expired. RIP Cane's card. You will be missed.

Day 109

109/365

Yum! I am more ready than ever for fresh veggies. (I am usually not that ready, but am trying!) They look so good and taste great mixed into recipes. I am on the lookout for healthy recipes to help me eat them.

What is ironic about this photo? It was taken at Fresh Market, a place we love to stroll through after attending $1 Scoop Night at Baskin Robins!

Day 56

056/365

With winter drawing to a close, we are squeezing in a few more of our favorite winter recipes. Rachel Ray's Smoky Sweet Pototo Chicken Stoup...YUM-O! I probably could have taken a better photo, but I was hungry!
