Day 201

201/365

Will and His Pet Rock...Compliments of a Mom's Club Camp Out Party.

Day 200

200/365

Super John!
John to the Rescue!

My husband is my hero. He has to deal with a lot more than most and still manages to love me unconditionally and keep his faith. I love you,John!

Day 199

199/365

Little G with her Bible Story

It's hard to believe that Jesus loves Gemma more than I do. But what a wonderful thing! Even harder to believe that He still loves me that much even after I have grown up!

Day 198

198/365

Yet another fantastic Lego creation. Look out Lego magazine!

Day 197

197/365

Beautiful Blue Eyes

Monday, September 12, 2011

Day 196

196/365

My husband--the Van Halen addict. He wanted to walk down the isle at our wedding to Hot for Teacher. :)

We've gotten back into reading before bedtime. John still likes to steal my Kindle, but lucky for me a friend loaned him this book. The Kindle is all mine tonight!

Day 195

195/365

You can't really tell it from this picture, but Will ate the side out of his ice cream cone. It was one of Mimi's many treats when we stopped at the mall. Thanks again Mimi!

Day 194

194/365

Today was the end of an era. I went back to work. It's just part time, but it was still incredibly hard to leave my babies. I teared up, but no tears. I have wanted to work with kids at church for several years and the timing was finally right. I am the new Nursery and Preschool Ministries Director at Vineyard. I am happy and sad at the same time, though happy is winning out. I look forward to the new joys and challenges it will bring to our lives. I know this is where I am suppose to be.

Day 193

193/365

Mimi bought Will his first watch. He's been wanting one and found one with firemen on it. He looks like such a big boy with it on!

Day 192

192/365

Looking forward to Mom visiting for a few days. We started off her visit with a trip to Orange Leaf! She needed to experience the new frozen yogurt fad.

Day 191

191/365

My crew is sleeping. Such a sweet sight. Too bad I wasn't joining them. I never thought I would have to learn to get by on such little sleep!

Monday, August 22, 2011

Day 190

190/365

This was Will's first building experience at Lowe's. He and John built a tow truck. How appropriate! Now maybe Mater can get a break once in a while.

Day 189

189/365

Thanks to an incorrect weather forecast (again), our trip to Holiday World was foiled. Instead we dressed like cows for free Chick Fil A and went to the Living Arts and Science Museum and Spaghetti Factory in Louisville. It was a first trip for all of us, and pretty interesting. Mimi and Pawpaw were especially good sports since this wasn't their usual cup of tea. Here they are riding a city bus. Look out...John was driving!

Day 188

188/365

Will is a HUGE fan of Miss Patty Cake's Easter Eggstravaganza. When I found out she was at the Christian Ministry Expo, I had to get a pic for him. Say, "Cheese!"

Day 187

187/365

One of the greatest things about living in a semi-large city are all the free events. The NASCAR trucks were coming through Lexington and stopped at Walmart for fans to check out. We had to take Will. Everything is a race to him, even going up and down the steps. It's not pretty when someone beats him.

It was also an unusual way to celebrate...my new job!

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Day 186

186/365

Finally Fishing

Will got his fishing pole last year, but the time slipped away without the opportunity to fish. This is Will's first fishing trip with Daddy. He was so excited! He had his new Lightning McQueen gear ready to go.

Day 185

185/365

My Patriotic Baby...and my patriotic blue toes. Happy 235th Birthday America!

Day 184

184/365

We were excited to find out about Ashland Avenue's fireworks. Sure beats the crowd downtown! Much more family friendly too.

Day 183

183/365

A little pre-4th fun at the park. Am I blessed with gorgeous kids or what???

Day 182

182/365

There is nothing more peaceful than a sleeping baby...or more rotten. I will always know by the sheets that she she was insisting on sleeping in our bed for this one. The worst of it is that she wasn't even really sleeping. The next photo is of her with eyes wide open, grinning because she knew she had me right where she wanted.

Day 181

181/365

Gemma at 8 months

She was attempting to climb out of the chair the whole time. Little rascal! Regardless, I thought this captured her more serious side very well.

Friday, July 29, 2011

Day 180

180/365

Family Day! We aren't too fond of the term "Gotcha Day!" Seems a bit too much like you captured a bug.

Family Day is the day we first had Will. We celebrated this year by dropping Gemma off with a babysitter, eating Chinese, and going to the movies to see Cars 2. He's sporting his Cars 2 shirt and puppets from China. What a wonderful 3 years we've had with our boy. How fast the time has flown!

Day 179

179/365

Swim party! Gemma wasn't too sure about the water play. See her blotchy face? She's not too fond of cold water.

Day 178

178/365

I found this bear at a friend's yard sale. She was really happy to be rid of it and I was really happy to find it. What a great photo prop. I have a wonderful baby picture dreamed up in my head, but my baby is too big. Any takers???

Day 177

177/365

Kumquats

At a college retreat, I heard Billy Sprague sing, "Life is curious, kumquat may." I may have sung that line more than any other. Long story short, I had to try kumquats. FYI...they are like a miniature tart oranges, unfortunately with seeds. Just in case you are worried about them being too healthy, they are quite delicious with sugar on them. Otherwise, too tart for even me. But definitely worth a try.

Day 176

176/365

Our friend Hailey had her birthday party at Kinder Musik. Unfortunately we don't get to see Hailey's family very often, so Will didn't remember her at first. Now they are best buds and he's asking for her to come over to the house.

It's so easy to make friends as a kid, especially for Will. Perhaps it's a sense of guardedness, but I sure wish grown-ups could make friends that easily.

Day 175

175/365

Will and Landon are best buddies. His mom and I taught together and now we are both in Mom's Club. Landon and Will were in the same 3 year old preschool class. This photo is from Bible School at Landon's church. You can see that he always keeps Will in stitches!

Monday, July 4, 2011

Day 174

174/365

The last time I took a bath picture of Will, he was so little. Look at this big guy now! Guess there won't be too many more bath photos in his future. But here he is one last time, mugging with something he made at VBS.

Day 173

173/365

This is one of my oldest and best friends, Linda. We haven known each other since college. She is quite the math teacher, so it's fitting that she be the first to let Gemma play with a calculator! (Although it's not pictured here, she let her eat it too!)

Day 172

172/365

One of the first times we have captured proof in pictures that Will loves to aggravate his sister. I guess that's what big brothers are for.

Friday, July 1, 2011

Day 171

171/365

Tonight I crawled into bed and found this little friend waiting here for me. I know some day I am going to miss sleeping with lions and walking on cars, but for now, I just try to view life as one tiny adventure after another.

Day 170

170/365

Happy Father's Day to a wonderful Daddy! Before I ever met John someone told me to marry someone you would want to have raise your children if you weren't around. At the time, I was dating someone I would definitely not want raising my kids. When I met John I knew from the start that he was the kind of man I could trust to raise my children as I would, someone who would take care of them, love them, and teach them to love Jesus. Thanks for all you do for our kiddos, John. I love you!

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Day 169

169/365

Our Mom's Club was sampling a local dance class. Will just stood there for the first 10 minutes or so, occasionally turning around and grinning from ear to ear. Then he got warmed up. He created his own jumping dance move before it was all over. Unfortunately they don't have any classes for boys younger than 7. Maybe in a few years...

Day 168

168/365

These are the 1 year old photos I took of a little girl at Ashland. I enjoyed taking some of them with a new lens!

It won't be long until Gemma is one. I can't wait and don't want it to come all at the same time.

Day 167

167/365

This little toy is cute as a button...an aquarium you don't have to clean! :) Gemma turns it on and off by herself when she's in the mood for a little music. She often likes to do it with her feet, but tonight I captured her little hand in action.

I like to look at her in the soft blue glow of the light for a minute after I lay her down. So many little things I don't want to forget...

Day 166

166/365

My sweet husband. There wasn't a special reason for this photo. I didn't even plan it well. It's taken late at night in our bathroom!

I just don't take John's picture nearly as often as I did pre-kids. Although I am sure he doesn't mind, I sort of do. We have so many goofy pics of us enjoying life our first few carefree years of marriage. Date night must become a priority! And as much as I hate it...photos of the 2 of us!

Day 165

165/365

First Strawberry/First Whole Food!

We love the summer concerts around town. This week was the first time we were able to go to Ecton Park. Gemma grabbed a strawberry and went to town. After the initial tart shock, she seemed to enjoy it. Dressed like a strawberry herself, I guess she would have to!

Day 164

164/365

China One

That's John's name for this sleeping position. It was the first position Will fell asleep in in China. After a long day of crying, I might ad. We weren't expecting him to sleep that way, but it was so adorable.

Enter Gemma. "Back is best" is what everyone says for sleeping babies. But Gemma rolls straight into this position every time. I hate it. Especially because she usually faces the wall, which makes it harder to check and see if she is breathing. John calls me paranoid. I call myself a loving mother. Regardless, cute as it may be, I hate this position.

Day 163

165/365

Snuggling to Sleep with Daddy

It's becoming a nightly ritual, at least when G's not up fighting it!

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Day 162

162/365

John bought this adorable little duckie robe as a Christmas present for our first baby while we were in the adoption process. Will ended up being way too big for it, so here it is on Gemma. I'm thinking this will look good in our duckie bathroom.

Day 161

161/365

This was the last day of Will's first bible school this summer. They had a competition to see who could bring in the most coins...boys or girls. Will really got into it. Unfortunately the competition ended in a tie. But it all went for missions for children, so not all was lost!

Day 160

160/365

I love Aps. Particularly free ones. This is my new Instagram ap for photo processing.

I opted for a picture of the clock to show how late it is. We are definitely night owls around here. I wish it weren't so and we are trying to change that, but to no avail. Sometimes I think we have the only party girl baby who tries to stay up until midnight.

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Day 159

159/365

John knew a man growing up who's middle initial was "G." When people asked him what the G stood for, he would say,"Gorgeous!" We hope Gemma has enough spunk to pull that off. Modeling for pictures like this, I think she has an awfully good chance.

Day 158

158/365

Will has a million quilts that my mom has made him, which I am very thankful for. But tonight was the first night I have found Will snuggling under one that I made him. It felt great. Now to make time to craft some more...

Day 157

157/365

Gemma and Auntie Noelle

Noelle is one of those friends that everyone needs. I can't even count how much stuff she has given us for Gemma. Any time she's around, she entertains Gemma and gives me a little break. She's always encouraging and has helped us in a million other ways as well. Thanks Noelle!

Day 156

156/365

A Day Out with Thomas!

I don't know how much longer Will will be interested in trains, so this year we had to make it a point to take a ride on Thomas before it was too late. Here he is pictured with the conductor. His smile could light up a room. I love the wonder of a little boy, but I also know it won't last much longer. (I heard that the Chick Fil A cow wasn't real just the other day. I have also been questioned about how Santa can fit down the chimney.) For now, I am going to enjoy the moment.

Day 155

155/365

Gemma's "official" 7 month photos. See how she's learning to strike a pose?

Day 154

154/365

Every year the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church holds a fair just minutes from our house. It's a fantastic place to people-watch and Will loves the kiddie rides. I love the colors!

Day 153

153/365

I love these tender moments between brother and sister. I can't get enough!

Saturday, June 11, 2011

Day 152

152/365

Occasionally when we have a photo shoot with friends, Will and Gemma will come along for the ride. I always try to dress them cute because, since we are always somewhere pretty, you never know when a photo op for them will come along as well after the official shoot. Here Will and Gemma are playing at Waveland. I love these shots of brother and sister love. They have a bond like I never imagined.
